Principle Consultant, Neish Training Sharing ways to tackle racism (and other 'isms') and embrace difference. Gillian works with individuals and organisations in all sectors to help them recognise and fulfil their potential. About this speaker
Gillian designs and facilitates courses which encourage people to think beyond stereotypes. In a challenging but non-threatening way, she enables participants to explore the nature and impact of power inequalities in society and to develop practical strategies to eliminate discrimination and value diversity.
Gillian works with Jane Elliott (www.janeelliott.com), the international facilitator and lecturer and now conducts the ‘brown-eyed, blue-eyed’ exercise here in the UK. This provides an experiential opportunity for participants to understand the impact of racism and the consequences for relationships and communities.
Some courses are specifically for people from black and minority ethnic communities e.g. for PATH (Scotland) and with funding from the Equality Unit of the Scottish Government, Gillian developed the eight day 'Developing Management and Leadership Skills for Employment and Public Life' course (http://pathscotland.org.uk/leadership-programme/).
As participants come with a wide range of opinions and strong emotions, Gillian has designed and delivers ‘Train the Trainer’ courses to ensure that trainers have the knowledge and skills to deliver courses on 'race' issues and to mainstream these issues into all their training programmes.
Personal Development Programmes Gillian works with the Springboard Consultancy (www.springboardconsultancy.com) and is licensed to deliver its Springboard, Spring Forward, Fresh Steps, Sprint and Boost programmes. Having trained with the developers, Liz Willis and Jenny Daisley, Gillian is now also licensed to train trainers for Springboard Consultancy programmes.
